BARROW MP Michelle Scrogham spent an hour in the life of Millennium House assisted living residential building in the town’s Dalton Road on Friday.

The house, as the name suggests, was opened in 2000 and it includes purpose-built accommodation for older people who still want to live an independent life but without the stresses or worries of keeping their own home.

Mrs Scrogham said: “It was a pleasure to look around Millennium House and to have a chat with residents, trustees and members of staff.

“They have succeeded in providing a secure and stimulating environment where the residents can enjoy companionship without losing their privacy.

“The people living here can bring their own belongings and furniture to personalise their own spaces with the choice for friends and family to stay over if they want to.”

Millennium House has achieved five stars in every local government inspection since it was opened.

Staff welcome any person aged 55 years and over to live with Abbeyfield, and that can be people who want to downsize, those who want to live in companionship with others, or no longer feel able to continue living in their own homes.
