We’ll be seeing the Barrow Rising high-vis jackets out more and more around Barrow as Team Barrow gets to work across the town.
One part of this is a concerted plan to get the basics right in the town centre and surrounding communities. That means, starting this week, there will be additional professional cleaning and refresh of pavements, bins, signs, graffiti, and street furniture . This will be accompanied by support for activities like community litter picks, which bring people together to help keep up progress.
This has been one of people’s top complaints and a priority that I’ve been pushing for. These are basic things that should be delivered as well as working on the ambitious regeneration plans we all want to see.
I’m really pleased to see Barrow Rising working with Barrow BID to fund the work for an initial three months, which I hope will then be extended longer term.
The work of Team Barrow is partially funded by a £200m Barrow Transformation Fund provided by the Labour Government.
