It is the first duty of any Government to keep this country safe. We are therefore increasing defence spending to 2.5% of GDP. In an increasingly unstable world it is important that we protect British people at home.

This decision won’t just benefit our national security, it will boost our economic security as well, bringing investment and creating good jobs and apprenticeships in our vital defence industry and across the supply chain.
