I am delighted to share some fantastic news for our community.
Through the Pride in Place Programme, we have secured £20 million of long-term funding for the most deprived areas of Old Barrow and Hindpool – the communities in and around the centre of Barrow.
The money will be spread over the next ten years which means £2 million every year dedicated to improving our community.
I fought hard to make sure we were included in this programme.
But this is just the beginning. The real question now is: how should this money be spent to make the biggest impact for you, your family, and your neighbours?
The great thing about this funding is that there are very few “strings attached” in terms of what the money can be spent on.
And it will a be up to the people who live in this area to decide how exactly the money should it be spent.
