Ulverston Station
Ulverston Station
I wanted to share two updates on the significant investment planned for Ulverston Station.
Nearly £3.5 million has now been secured to deliver a full refurbishment of the station canopies. This major upgrade will include new glazing, improved drainage, metalwork repairs, repainting, and new maintenance hatches to ensure easier access in the future.
The work will cover:
🖌️ Full preparation and repainting of all canopies being retained
🪟 New Georgian wired effect glazing throughout
☔ Replacement of all box gutters and rainwater systems down to ground level
🏗️ Structural repairs to ironwork, including decorative trusses and brackets
💡 New globe style under canopy lighting to improve visibility and safety
Development work is progressing, with onsite work starting in 2027.
Further to this, Ulverston has been chosen for detailed design work under the Government’s Access for All programme, exploring future accessibility upgrades. This is something I have been campaigning for with Tony Jennings for years before I became the MP. Designs will run through to Autumn 2027, after which Ministers will decide which stations move to delivery. Any extra local funding identified will strengthen the case for step free access.
