I, alongside Cumbria MPs, council leaders and business leaders, met with the Rail Minister Lord Hendy last week to discuss next steps for the upgrade of the Cumbrian Coast Line, including the work needed to get the Bransty tunnel reopened on the west coast after already being closed for a year.
We discussed the cross-government support needed to secure funding in the next Spending Review to invest in much-needed improvements to the line in this vital, strategic part of the rail network.
