Last week I asked the government to commit to a national strategy for preventing heart-related deaths.
I became Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) after learning about the heart-breaking, unexpected deaths of two local young people – 30 year old Vicky Parker and 25 year old Wilson Shepherd.
I’m inspired by the tireless campaigning by their mums Donna Parker and Lesley Mease to raise awareness and funds for free ECG screening days for young people, and will be a voice for them in parliament.
