Better Transport for Cumbria
Reversing years of underinvestment. Securing major new funding. Improving reliability and access. Strengthening local control and planning. Connecting Barrow and Cumbria to jobs and growth.
One of my priorities coming into the role of MP was improving the transport we have in this area.
I’m campaigning to improve bus services by securing major new funding to reverse years of cuts, making services more frequent, reliable and affordable, and giving local people and councils a greater say in how routes are run.
Working with other Cumbrian MPs, we are pushing for long-term upgrades to our rail lines, while also holding train operators to account so services are more reliable and meet the needs of passengers today.
I’m also pressing for wider infrastructure investment, including improvements to key roads like the A590 and A595, and linking better transport to regeneration and devolution so our area is better connected and can grow economically.
