Further to my meeting with the Minister for Data Protection and Telecoms, Chris Bryant MP, where we discussed the issues around mobile connectivity, I’ve received some great news about improved mobile coverage in our area.
A Shared Rural Network mast in the constituency has now been upgraded and activated, delivering better 4G coverage in one of our most remote communities. This is the first upgrade of its kind in our constituency.
Until now, this mast only supported 999 calls and EE customers. It will now also provide 4G coverage for users of Vodafone, Three, and Virgin Media O2, helping local residents, businesses, and visitors stay connected. This upgrade will make a real difference in the Duddon Valley, where I know many have struggled with poor signal and patchy coverage.
This is part of the Government’s £184 million investment into the Shared Rural Network, aiming to tackle patchy mobile signals in hard-to-reach places across the UK.

Improving digital connectivity across Furness is something I will keep fighting for, and I’m always keen to hear from residents still struggling with poor mobile or broadband strength.
