I hosted a roundtable last Friday to give local community organisations and businesses the chance to speak to the Independent Commission on Neighbourhoods – the leading national organisation looking at neighbourhood regeneration programmes.
With the Government’s £200m Barrow Transformation Fund and £20m Pride in Place funding for central Barrow we have the opportunity over the next 10 years to reverse years of decline in the town, and bring about lasting change for our neighbourhoods.
The meeting covered the huge challenges facing our communities, but people also shared their thoughts on where we need to focus our efforts and the opportunities to turn things around.
