The renters’ rights bill officially became law yesterday. This means that the 1 in 6 residents in Barrow and Furness who rent from private landlords now have better protections under the law.
I’ve met with and supported several constituents who have been handed Section 21 notices (no fault evictions). I’ve had cases of unacceptable damp and disrepair in private rented accommodation.
Under this new law, these will now be held to account. I’m really pleased to see that the Government listened to these issues and brought in new protections.
