I’ve lived in this area my whole life, and I think we’ve got the most beautiful and underrated coastline in the country! I’m glad that the national Tourism body, VisitEngland, has now officially supported that view
Last week I welcomed senior directors from VisitEngland to our beautiful part of the world ahead of the launch of their latest marketing campaign.
The £1 million funded pilot campaign, ‘All on England’s North West Coast’, will promote the Cumbrian coast as a destination for domestic tourists highlighting destinations, attractions, experiences and accommodation providers in our area.
I invited Visit England here to shout about what we have to offer and to introduce them to representatives from local tourism businesses. We talked about the diversity of what our coast can offer from Ulverston right up to Ravenglass and beyond. I’m delighted that Barrow-in-Furness, Silecroft, Ravenglass and Muncaster Castle will be specifically highlighted in the campaign and that the campaign will be used to benefit tourism along the whole coast.
I am keen to see this pilot campaign expanded to deliver even more marketing activity for our tourism sector in the future.
