Given the situation that Dalton Leisure Centre is currently in, and how loved and valued it is in the wider community, I brought together Shaun, the centre’s manager, and Westmorland and Furness Council to look at how we can find the long-term funding needed to keep Dalton Leisure Centre going.
With an emergency grant from WAF before Christmas, the community’s generous donations, and internal changes to running costs, there has been a shift on the situation Dalton Leisure Centre finds itself in.
However, we have to think about the long-term and how the centre can be self-sustaining. It started as a community project, and I know it would be a huge loss to all those involved with it if it were to close.
So I’ll be working with Shaun and WAF to find a solution to keep the centre open!
