The Barrow Neighbourhood policing team has been working hard to bring down the number of anti social behaviour incidents in Barrow Town Centre.
Getting more officers back out on the beat through Operation Enhance is making a difference and the numbers are going in the right direction.
However, clearly there are a residual level of incidents which are continuing to affect residents, businesses, and the vitality of the town centre.
To help tackle this I’ve brought together a multi-agency group with PFCC David Allen that includes police, the local authority, town centre business and local community organisations. The aim is to come up with concrete actions that will make a difference.
I was pleased to chair the first meeting of the group recently and to get agreement on a number of practical actions including the introduction of street-level CCTV in the town centre. This has been something that has been needed for many years.
Finally, the police have asked that I remind people to report incidents on 101, or if you feel in danger, please contact them on 999.
