I love all animals – I’d be happy with a pet pigeon if it came to it. I don’t know what I’d do without my cocker spaniel, Charlie, and cat, Jags – they’re part of the family.
So when something’s wrong with one of them, I just want clear advice, fair treatment, and to know I’m doing the best I can for them.
That’s why I welcome the reforms announced by the Government to modernise our veterinary sector – the biggest overhaul in around 60 years. They’re about clearer pricing, better transparency and choice, and stronger protections for pet owners, while also properly backing the vets and vet nurses who do such vital work in our communities.
Pets aren’t a luxury, they’re family. And when they need care, people deserve clarity, honesty and confidence – not confusion or worry about hidden costs.
These changes are a step towards a system that works better for everyone: owners, professionals, and most importantly, the animals we love.
