First day back in Parliament on Tuesday and we’ve hit the ground running with an event to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the AUKUS Partnership.
AUKUS is the landmark security pact with Australia and the US which will help Australia buy and build conventionally armed nuclear powered submarines and will also see the UK building up to 12 SSN AUKUS boats here in Barrow for the Royal Navy.
As Chair of the AUKUS All Party Parliamentary Group I am working hard to make sure we build maximum support for AUKUS at that it is delivering as many benefits as possible for our area and beyond.
It was great to welcome their Excellencies the US Ambassador and the Australian High Commissioner to Parliament yesterday for this landmark event.
Beforehand I caught up with the Defence Secretary to talk about how important AUKUS is to our defence, and how important Barrow is to AUKUS.
